The fourth step prayer is a very useful text when learning how to pray. Surprisingly, most of us new to praying or sobriety don’t know how to pray, even those of us who have been brought up in the church. By focusing on praying for others and asking for God’s guidance, we can help heal ourselves from our past actions that might have harmed others.
I am to sit quietly when in doubt, asking only for direction and strength to meet my problems as He would have me. Never am I to pray for myself, except as my requests bore on my usefulness to others. Then only might I expect to receive. But that would be in great measure. Amen.
